My People

The relationships you want to keep warm, and a quiet word when one has gone cold.

Add someone

Tap the plus on the People tab. A name is the only thing required. Everything else, the role, the company, how you met, can arrive later or never.

Add the handful of people you would actually be sorry to lose touch with, not everyone you have ever emailed. A list of forty names you feel guilty about is worse than a list of eight you keep.

The My People tab, listing the relationships being managed.
The People tab. Each person carries what you have recorded and when you last spoke.

When a calendar meeting has attendees, My Life Practice tries to match them to people you already have, using the email address on the invitation.

A match means the meeting shows up in that person's history, so their page answers "when did we last actually speak" rather than "when did I last make a note". Those are different questions and the second one flatters you.

Where an attendee does not match anyone, nothing is invented. You are offered the option to add them, and declining is a perfectly good answer.

Stay in touch nudges

Set how often you would like to be in contact with someone: monthly for a close colleague, twice a year for someone you want to keep a thread with. When that interval passes with nothing recorded, the person surfaces on Today.

The nudge is deliberately quiet. It suggests, it does not scold, and it never sends anything on your behalf.

If a person does not need a rhythm, leave the interval off. Not every relationship is a schedule, and a nudge you always dismiss is noise that teaches you to dismiss the ones that matter.
